Japanese National Tourism Organisation


The brief

JNTO are the go-to organisation when it comes to promoting tourism in Japan. They're involved in a wide range of activities from operating tourist information centres in Japan for foreign visitors, to publishing travel literature and videos about Japan. 

With 13 offices worldwide, each office operates their own national websites, the UK operating seejapan.co.uk. Each office is committed to the shared goal of encouraging people all over the globe to visit Japan.

The previous website was a discredit to the brand and business objectives from both a visual and functional perspective. It was Spinbox's challenge to completely change this by redesigning the website from the ground up.


The solution

One of Spinbox main concerns with the previous website was that it was not mobile or tablet responsive. The website is now fully responsive with beautiful design layouts that automatically adapt to look great on both small and wide screens, reaching a larger audience by appealing not only to desktop users. 

Spinbox upgraded the CMS which was performing terribly and had a lack of modern functionality and abilities. The new website now runs on Sitefinity 9.2 which contains everything JNTO needed along with many more amazing features. The new CMS combined with the custom modules that Spinbox made ensure that adding content in the future will be quick and easy for JNTO staff.

The website is very content-heavy so Spinbox knew it was essential to revise the sitemap, remove and update content and redesign the navigation. With the new intuitive navigation, content is better organised and spread making sure users don't get lost in the site. Combined with the new blog, news and events modules and site search, end users are able to pinpoint the information they're looking for quickly.  

Social media buttons have been added across the website along with an integrated social media feed feature on the homepage. The constantly changing integrated social feed keeps homepage content looking fresh for returning visitors. 


The results

Spinbox really went all out with this website - and it shows! The results can be seen immediately, the new website is attractive and modern in design, offering an easy to use interface for those wanting to discover more about Japan.

The site is now designed to harness the power of the new Sitefinity version and empower the JNTO staff to manage and expand site content internally and reduce costs in the future. 

The clean and concisely presented pages give a great visual appeal, encouraging users to read and find out more about visiting Japan. The new 3 main sections, Where to go, What to do and Plan your trip makes sure users have easy access to all the resources they need. 

The website is not only attractive in design but highly functional from all angles providing users with a valuable experience.
