The brief

TVR are an iconic independent British manufacturer of high-end sports cars. In 1949 the first TVR was made and the concepts used in the early developments created the DNA of TVR which is still used today.

To celebrate TVR's 70th anniversary the brand has come roaring back with plans to unveil an eagerly awaited new sports car in September 2017 which will hit the roads in 2018. 

The initial TVR website was created out of need to fulfill the initial re-launch, however it was no longer fit for purpose. TVR are all about great looks, great sound and great performance so it was only fitting they had a great website to match. 


The solution

Considering the long-term requirements for TVRs digital strategy over the next years, Spinbox came to the decision that Sitefinity Professional Edition should be used in recognition of the many benefits the version would make available to the TVR team. 

The initial phases of the new website redevelopment involved creating a new design and re-platforming the existing content.  Spinbox then sought to improve the UX for all areas, creating new and improving existing functionality to better present information and encourage user interactions.

The image-driven Model pages include specifications and dedicated galleries allowing users to easily browse performance and technical details for legendary TVR models from the past, alongside the latest imagery and stats for the brand new 2017 car with prominent calls to action to place a deposit and register interest.

In recognition of the history of the company and its brand, on the Heritage page Spinbox implemented a timeline starting from the creation of the very first TVR and allowing users to smoothly browse key milestones up to the present day. 

Spinbox revamped the Network Member area creating a locator for users to easily find their closest service centre worldwide.  From the homepage or this new dedicated page, users can enter a postcode to perform a lookup and can then filter results to refine the type of support they are looking for.  The biography, contact details and ability to read and leave reviews for each Network Member is also available.

The Noise landing page displays the latest content in a clean and attractive grid format. The grid has category filters allowing users to quickly navigate to their topics of interest. There is also an in-page feature where users can sign up to receive newsletters by simply entering their email address. 

The homepage features a social feed presenting imagery and posts from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.  TVR can pick and choose which posts to display so they can keep control over what is shown in this prominent position on the site. Links to TVR's official social media channels accompany this section for users to follow and keep up to date with TVR news and updates.

The results

With a fixed deadline of the announcement date for the new car, Spinbox staff stepped up to deliver the project on time. The new website combines creativity and usability all based around the content and target audience. 

One of the key parts of the new website was imagery, the website now has professional-grade high-resolution photos and images that give high impact, portraying the power of the cars and the unapologetic, brashness of the brand. 

Key content and functionality remain the focal point regardless of the device the website is being used on thanks to the fully responsive design.  

TVR are now able to deliver a complete experience to users looking to find out about about its heritage, past models and where to service them as well as all the latest noise about the eagerly-awaited new car and the ability to reserve one.
