The Brief

Daylight System is a leading manufacturer of advanced daylight simulation and smart lighting solutions, serving architectural practices, healthcare environments, and commercial developments across the UK and global markets.

The team identified a strategic opportunity to expand into direct online sales, allowing them to sell rooflight products directly to homeowners, subcontractors, and installers - while still supporting their established reseller and trade networks, of their parent brand, Brett Martin.

Spinbox was engaged to design and deliver a solution that could move quickly, scale securely, and give Brett Martin the digital capability to compete confidently in a growing direct-sales market.

Delivering a Scalable eCommerce Platform

To meet the project’s technical and commercial requirements, Spinbox delivered a standalone eCommerce platform built on nopCommerce, running alongside Brett Martin’s existing Sitefinity site. This dual‑platform approach enabled advanced transactional functionality without disrupting the corporate CMS.

Product Configuration

To simplify the purchase of highly technical rooflight products, we designed a custom product configurator that guides users through valid configuration options while dynamically updating pricing (inclusive and exclusive of VAT). Bespoke requirements are routed through a structured enquiry flow.

Trade Pricing & User Roles

The platform supports both consumer and trade audiences through a role‑based access and pricing model, including:

  • Six distinct user roles
  • A three‑tier trade discount structure (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
  • Automatic, category‑level discount application

Payments, Operations & Hosting

The solution integrates Stripe and PayPal, alongside postcode‑based address validation to streamline checkout.

The platform is hosted in a dedicated Microsoft Azure environment, with SLA‑backed support and maintenance in place to ensure performance, security, and scalability.

The delivery of a modern, scalable eCommerce experience unlocked direct-to-consumer and direct-to-trade sales for the first time, replacing a fragmented and manual process with a guided, intuitive purchasing journey.
